EDUCATION
The office of the Executive District Officer Education, which is now working under the City District Government Karachi has been established after the devolution of power plan 2001 in place of defunct Directorate of Secondary & Higher Secondary School Education, Karachi Region.
According to the SLGO 2001; the office is responsible to look after the affairs of boys', girls secondary schools, institutions of technical education, special education (local bodies wing), sports education etc. Briefly it deals with the over all affairs pertaining with school education under the supervision of City District Government & Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh.
So far as the statistics are concerned there are more than 3752 institutions with 6,35,703 students and more than 30,000 teaching staff are working under this office beside more than 10,000 non teaching staff. The office is holding the largest civilian set up at City District Level through out the country.
Education is the life line of any nation while Pakistan's economical life line is some how linked with Karachi which is not only the biggest city of Pakistan but due to its geographical, demographical and cultural diversities; Karachi is considered as the most important city of Pakistan.
Education with its proper quality is unavoidable for the prosperous Karachi, the province of Sindh and then Pakistan. Since Karachi takes in a huge flux of hundreds and thousands of people from various cities of Karachi per year; who usually belong to lower or middle working class of the society(5% of population or 45,000 per month) . They migrate to Karachi to earn their livelihood and since they are not pretty sound in financial aspect consequently they depend upon government schools for their children's education. Due to their over loaded struggle for the economical survival, the relevant class has a specific passive attitude towards the government schools. On the other hand the efficiency of government schools has significantly dropped due to so many complicated factors.
In spite of all the challenges; the present administration of the office, is striving its level best to spread & impart quality education among all the Karachites without any difference particularly to the middle & lower middle social strata under the dynamic leadership of Syed Mustufa Kamal, City Nazim Karachi and Mrs. Fakhr Karim Siddiqi; the present Executive District Officer, Education Karachi.

AGRICULTURE
The Agriculture Department of City District Government Karachi forms the most important organ of the new City District setup. It includes seven departments i.e:
- Agriculture Extension (devolved from Sindh Government)
- Fisheries (devolved from Sindh Government)
- Forests (devolved from Sindh Government)
- Livestock / Animal Husbandry (devolved from Sindh Government).
- On Farm Water Management (devolved from Sindh Government) .
- Poultry Development (devolved from Sindh Government).
Veterinary Services (defunct from KMC)
The Administrative and Financial Authority for the Management of these Government Offices stand decentralized to the District Government in Agriculture Group of Offices under Section-14 Part-A of the First Schedule of Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2001.

HEALTH
DEPARTMENT’S INTRODUCTION:
Health Group of Offices, CDGK came in existence after devolution in 2001 with the merger of Health department of KMC, ZMCs, District Councils, SCUG, Sindh Govt and KDA wing.
Health Group of Offices is the second largest group of offices after Education Department of CDGK. This office is providing health services to the citizen of Karachi.

Dr. Nasir Jawaid Sheikh is an Officer of CDGK service. He did his MBBS in the year 1986. He worked in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Leprosy Hospital in different capacities. He remained member of Health Committies to uplift services in health institute of CDGK including KMDC. He is also a member of Governing body of KHID. He has vast administrative experience of hospital reforms.
